Academic excellence and business expertise run in Ann McKinney’s family. Ann was born in Boston, but she and her family have lived in various parts of the country. With a bachelor’s degree in education from Michigan State University, Ann taught high school in Pontiac, Michigan, before moving in 1981 to Silicon Valley, where she studied electrical engineering at San José State University, worked on her MBA, and went into marketing and sales for several high-tech companies.
Fast-forward to 2004, and Ann was ready to pivot in a new direction. “I wanted a career where I wouldn’t have to travel, and where there was no glass ceiling,” she says. Real estate beckoned — she knew the market, had impressive tech skills, and had her artist mother’s eye for interior design. She also has a knack for quickly forming meaningful relationships with her clients, who benefit from all she’s learned since becoming a Real Estate Agent in 2006.
Ann devotes much of her spare time to charity as a fourth-generation member of the Philanthropic Educational Organization, and she also supports Habitat for Humanity and the American Cancer Society. Formerly a high school swim coach, she can still swim 2,500 yards in an hour and likes to go jogging with her 100-pound German shepherd, Charlie.
